About John Reed
John Reed serves as a minister and a college administrator and has resided in Greenwood for over 15 years. John spent his childhood and much of his teen years in farm country, where he learned the lessons of hard work and the importance of our rural communities. His wife, Lauren, was born and raised in Johnson County and comes from a large family that is active throughout the county in a variety of ways, including farming, law enforcement, pastoring, construction, and local government. Lauren is a music teacher and serves alongside her husband as the Dean of Women.
John and Lauren are the happy parents of five beautiful children with another on the way. They are passionate about Indiana remaining a great state to live, worship, work, and raise a family. John received his training from Indiana Baptist College and Seminary in Greenwood, Indiana, graduating with his bachelor’s degree in 2015, his master’s degree in 2017, and his PhD in 2025. He actively uses his training to minister in churches and in other venues throughout Indiana and in other states. He has served in various administrative roles at Indiana Baptist College for over ten years and has served as the Dean of Students for about eight of those years. John has voted in every election since the first time he was eligible to vote and has been involved in helping various election campaigns.
In his free time, John enjoys playing basketball, volleyball, and pickleball, as well as card games with his kids. He values highly his rural upbringing, loves studying American history and keeping up with current news, and cares deeply that his state stays true to the Christian and traditional ideals that have made both Indiana and America great. John’s extensive travels in Indiana and beyond, coupled with his more than ten years of experience in various administrative and leadership roles in an institution of higher learning, give him a broad perspective and a set of abilities that suit him well for representing Hoosiers in Indianapolis.
